Supporting and Participating in Empowering the Himalayas by HoneyGuide

I support Local Empowerment. So, I’m sharing this Everest Base Camp Trek to promote a new way of trekking where trekkers can empower the local service providers like lodges, guides and porters by booking services directly through them. #empoweringthehimalayas #freetriptoeverest

My friend Ujjwal Silwal from Kathmandu University, messaged me about this competition  Empowering the Himalayas organized by HoneyGuide. I found this initiative interesting. This is a good way to link the local service providers and travelers like us.

HoneyGuide is organizing this competition by providing one winner a free trip to Everest. Both initiative and competition is quite interesting. And both of the event highly interests me. I am an avid traveler who have reached 41/77 districts of Nepal. Most of the Terai belt  and eastern Nepal is yet to be traveled. I have listed the districts, places and treks that I’ve traveled till 2018 in above link.

Back in 2016, me and my friend Ramesh Gunner traveled to Solukhumbu District. Both of us reached to Lukla, doing trekking from Phaplu Airport. After that I alone trekked to Namche Bazar just to see the Everest from my real eyes :). I was not prepared for trekking further because we were there at Solukhumbu for an Educational Project. Looking at the Everest for almost an hour from Sagarmatha National Park beside the Helipad at the top of Namche Bazar was a bliss.

Well most of the trekking I have done are near the Himalayas. We have spend some dimes living in the local hostels and eating foods that they have offered. So yes, I’ve been a part in Empowering the Himalayas for quite a long time. So I’m participating at this initiative/competition of Honeyguide. If I will win than my money would be saved to reach to the Everest Camp. Saving that budget I can plan for Shey-Phoksundo and upper Dolpo. Even if I won’t be selected that is not a big deal. 🙂 This blog will be useful for others to participate if they check it out before the competition ends. Honeyguide will get one more backlinks :). Well my blog doesn’t have any at the moment 🙁

And definitely, I will travel to Base camp and will cross all three pass Chola Pass, Kong Ma  Pass and Renzo Pass. Sooner or later, that time will decide!

It’s fifty-ninth day of my Daily Writing Commitment. I am happy to write today and promote about HoneyGuide. It’s a business startup run by young travelers and business enthusiasts. Last time I knew about the organization from the Tourism Board’s event. Honeyguide was a partner of the event. And now I knew the reason why Ujjwal recommended about this event. I was wondering how he knew about the event. But it turned out that he is working there as a front end developer. Thank You my friend. We will celebrate If I will get selected 🙂
